Year In Review

I cannot believe another year has come and gone! 2014 was a big year for our family, with a lot of changes. New city, house, school, job, sitter, and the list goes on. One thing is certain though, God was with us every step of the way. We are incredibly thankful for the blessings that God showered upon us this year. 

JANUARY

Leah turned 5 and celebrated with friends at Sweet & Sassy

FEBRUARY

We took the kids to one of our favorite places, Jin-Beh. They loved sitting at the hibachi!

MARCH

Leah lost her first tooth!

 We closed on our new house in McKinney!

APRIL

The kids colored Easter eggs for the first time

 We celebrated Easter at our new church

MAY

Leah had a special Mother's Day Tea at her school

 The kids learned how to "shave"

 Ty had his very first performance with Kid's Day Out

JUNE

Leah had her last day of Pre-K

We celebrated Daddy on Father's Day

We packed up the car and took a quick family vacation to Galveston

 We had family pictures taken

JULY

We celebrated the 4th of July with sweet, new friends!

AUGUST

This girl started Kindergarten!!!

 I started my first year in first grade and the first year to be at the same school as Leah

SEPTEMBER

Leah earned the Respect award for her class for the month of September

We watched hot air balloons land behind our house

OCTOBER

We visited Big Tex at the state fair

The snow queen and astronaut had a great Halloween!

 We enjoyed our first Prosper football game

NOVEMBER

Ryan and I went to watch The Eli Young Band and Pat Green sing at the Ballpark

We had a great Thanksgiving

We decorated our new house for Christmas for the first time!

DECEMBER

Boomer the elf came to visit

We participated in a Fun Run to help support our friend

We spent my birthday at the Gaylord

 We had a wonderful Christmas!

We cannot wait to see what 2015 holds for our family! 

Christmas Day

After opening presents Christmas morning and playing/lounging around the house, we drove to my parents house in Irving for Christmas with the Wisdom family. We had a great time with my side of the family and enjoyed watching all the kids play together!

 Later that night, we headed back to McKinney and Leah and I decided to drop the boys off at home and head to a late showing of Annie at the mall. We had the best time together! It was the perfect way to finish a fabulous Christmas!

Christmas Morning

Because the kiddos went to bed so late the night before, they did not wake up until around 7:45 Christmas morning. Ty was the first one up, but when he and I went in to wake Leah, she just popped out of bed! This is our first Christmas in our new house, so it was fun getting to take our traditional hallway picture on the staircase this year. 

It was so funny when the kids walked in to the living room and saw what Santa had brought them. Ty had a huge John Deer riding tractor, but all he could talk about was what Santa brought Leah. "Look Leah, you have a doll," "Leah you have a baby bed". Ryan and I just stared at each other laughing!! Finally we asked Ty about his present and he started to give it a little more attention. I guess you never know how a 3 year old is going to respond!

Leah bought all of us gifts from the holiday shop at school. She was so excited about the mugs that she picked out for Ryan and I!

After presents and breakfast, we headed outside. Growing up, Ryan and I both have fun memories of all of the neighborhood kids playing outside Christmas morning with their new toys. We love getting to do that with our own children now! 

I must have been a good girl this year too, because Santa brought me a bike. Now we can finally go for family bike rides! 

We had the best morning together. It was such a magical time watching the kids open their presents, but the most important part, was talking with the kids about why we celebrate Christmas. Not for Santa or presents, but for Jesus Christ; His birth and the gift of life that He brings to us. We are incredibly thankful for that gift that is given so freely to us. Merry Christmas!!
