2nd Annual Family Christmas Getaway

Last year, Ryan surprised me with a birthday getaway to the Gaylord Texan. It was so much fun spending the night and going to the ICE show with my two favorite people! We decided last year that this would be an annual event that we would do as a family. So, this year we made sure to find a night to carry on the tradition. Tuesday afternoon we left for the Gaylord. We walked around and looked at all of the amazing Christmas decorations with Leah.

Then we got all bundled up and went to the ICE show. They keep it a chilly 9 degrees in the space holding all of the ice sculptures. Last year was a disaster with Leah. She lost it! We thought this year would be better. Well, we quickly realized that we were dreaming! Leah still did not enjoy being all bundled up. We walked through the show trying to enjoy it as much as possible with a crying two year old! I think we may put a little more thought into taking her to the show next year!

After ICE, we went to dinner at a hotel restaurant called Riverwalk Cantina. It is set up and decorated just like the riverwalk in San Antonio. We ate lots and had a great time! It was nice getting to go up to our room after dinner instead of having to drive home. The next morning we woke up nice and early, got ready, and headed downstairs for breakfast. After we ate, we walked around a little more and tried to get a few pictures. Leah is in a stage right now where it is VERY hard to get a good picture of her. She only smiles when she wants to smile! So, the beautiful pictures that I had in mind did not really come to life, but we have the memories, right!?

We had a wonderful time and I am so excited to include Ty in the tradition next year! I am so thankful for a husband who likes to do special things like this for his wife and children. I don't know what I would do without him! Merry Christmas!
