The burn night was a lot of fun! They started the evening with a slide show of pictures and video clips they had taken throughout the training. Then we went outside for the real show. Each class member picked one skill to perform. They could repel, fight a fire, or put out a propane fire. It was all so exciting to watch the things that Ryan had done during his time at the academy. Ryan was one of the guys that rode a fire truck and helped put out the fire. I could not believe that my husband was out there. He did such a great job and I could not be any prouder. I love him so much and am excited about his future with the fire department.

Ryan is the one kneeling in front of the door with the hose.

Leah and I are so proud of Ryan!

Ryan is right in the middle.

Leah loves her daddy so much!

Billy, Stephanie, and Braeleigh came too!

Ryan and his younger sister Lindsey. His parents were in Amarillo with Ryan's older sister Lauren for the birth of her son (our first nephew) Parker James Austin.

My mom came to support her son-in-law
After all the events at the academy, we went out to dinner with friends and family that came to the burn night and then met up with his classmates. It was really nice to meet all the guys that Ryan spends the days with. Leah spent the night with my parents so that Ryan and I could stay out later with his friends. It was the first time we had spent the night away from her. All three of us handled it really well!
Ryan will finish out some state tests this week and will find out his station assignment later this week. Depending on the shift he gets, he will start at a station on either Saturday, Sunday, or Monday. We are so thankful that God let us have this opportunity. His plan has truly revealed one blessing after another for us. We look forward to the future God has waiting for us!
