Sleeping Like a Big Girl!

Leah spent her first night in a "big girl" bed last night. We decided to go ahead and give it a try, so we converted her crib into a toddler bed. When the baby comes, he/she will get Leah's crib and we are going to buy Leah a new bed. So, we want to make sure she is ready for her new bed before the baby comes! The first night was rough to say the least. She thought it was fun to play in the bed at first, but when we turned off the lights and shut the door, she lost it. Ryan and I sat in the living room listening to Leah beat on her door crying and screaming "Mommy". Ryan went in and tried to lay on the floor to calm her down, but nothing worked. We ended up pulling out the pack'n'play and putting her to bed in it. We tried again last night, and it worked! She only cried for about 5 minutes and then it was silent. We poked our heads in her room and she was asleep in the bed. It was funny how proud we were. We just kept saying how big our little girl is and that we cannot believe she is ready for this new adventure. When I went in to wake her up this morning to leave for work, this is what I found:

She must have gotten up at some point, but was so tired that she fell back asleep on the floor. Sweet girl!

Tonight is going great so far. Here she is being silly before bed:

She only cried when I walked out of the room. She is asleep now, hopefully in her bed. I haven't checked yet! We are so happy that this transition is going so well.
