Family Vacation 2010

We got back Wednesday afternoon from a four day road trip to San Antonio. We had SO much fun and made a lot of memories! We left Sunday morning right after Ryan got home from the station. He had it all planned out. We would stop in Waco, Austin, and then San Antonio which were each about one and a half hours apart. We actually stuck to that plan pretty well! Leah did okay in the car on the way down there. We learned that she likes Veggie Tales, so we will have to get more of those videos before our next trip!
First stop was Waco. Of course, we stopped at Baylor to see the bears. Pulling up to campus brings back so many good memories! I hope that Leah enjoys her college years as much as I did. Unfortunately, the bears were not out, but we still got a couple of cute pictures.

We made it to San Antonio Sunday afternoon. We checked into our hotel on the Riverwalk, changed clothes, and headed out for the rest of the day. Ryan and I have been to the Riverwalk five times together now and this was Leah's second time. We love just walking around and enjoying the sights.

My best friend
We always eat at Casa Rio. Leah was trying to decide what she wanted for dinner.

This was taken while we were waiting in line for the river boat ride. Little did we know that this ride was going to be a HUGE disaster. Leah melted down as soon as we left the dock and it was all downhill from there. Thankfully, we made it the whole 30 minutes without anyone throwing us off the boat!
Monday morning we got up and headed to Sea World! We had a great time, but it was so HOT! We drank a lot of water and tried our best to stay in the shade.

Leah watching the dolphins
Taking a good picture with Daddy
And losing it with Mommy
Waiting for the Shamu show to start. Leah would not let go of that cup. It was her best friend the whole time we were at Sea World.
All cleaned up from a hot day outside and enjoying a little snack.
After we got all cleaned up, we headed back out. Leah wanted to take a quick picture in front of the Alamo.
Then we stopped at Starbucks for a nice treat!
Tuesday was our last day in San Antonio. We decided to visit the Children's Museum that was just up the block from our hotel. We were so glad that we did! It was perfect for Leah! She had the best time. First, she drove the train that was right at the entrance.

The toddler area had this cool thing that was like a huge light brite. Leah would have stayed and played with that all day if we let her. Ryan and I were trying to figure out a way to build one for our house!
Leah did a little grocery shopping while we were there!

She even got to practice her cow milking skills!
They had an airplane that we could get in. Leah hopped right up in the pilot's seat and went to work.
Before we left San Antonio, we had to take our traditional family photo in front of the Alamo. I look forward to putting all these photos side by side one day and seeing how much our family has grown and changed over the years!
We left San Antonio Tuesday afternoon and decided we were not ready to go home yet. We wanted to extend our little vacation, so we drove for a few hours and then stopped in Temple for the night. Wednesday morning, we headed to Glen Rose and went to the Fossil Rim Wildlife Center. We highly recommend going there! All three of us had a wonderful time. Leah really enjoyed driving the car with Ryan (don't worry, we were only going about 5mph on the trail)!

Leah was more interested in getting more food for the animals than taking a picture with her mom and dad.
The highlight was getting to feed the giraffes. They are so beautiful and gentle and they would just stick their heads into the car and eat out of our hands.

We had such a fabulous time on our vacation. God has truly blessed our little family. I have the most amazing husband and daughter and everyday that we get to spend together is a true joy. We look forward to many more trips together in the future!
